To avoid the messiness, fussiness and general anarchy that is the feeding rice cereal: microwave the hell out of it. [read: microwave for 10 seconds instead of simply using warm water]

While it may turn into a rather glutinous mass, a la kindergarten paste, the Magpie will actually eat it. Happily.

This does not bode well for kindergarten.
